Responsible Electronics in the Climate Change Era (REC²)

The REC² cluster at the Dresden University of Technology creates the scientific basis for the electronics of the future: new material platforms, component concepts and integrated systems with which responsible electronics can be realized in an ecologically, economically and socially sustainable way. Starting January 2026 our interdisciplinary team of natural scientists, electrical and computer engineers, social and environmental scientists, economists, experts in resource management and recycling as well as medical researchers develops electronic technologies that are not only efficient but also responsible to society and the environment. Among our participants are 12 esteemed German institutions, including the University of Applied Science Dresden, the Nanoelectronic Materials Laboratory gGmbH, the Nanoelectronic Materials Laboratory gGmbH, the Leibniz Institute of Polymer Research Dresden e.V., the Leibniz Institute for Solid State & Materials Research Dresden, the Fraunhofer Institute for Electron Beam and Plasma Technology FEP, the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology, the Technical University of Berlin, the Technical University of Darmstadt, the Hamburg University of Technology and the Ruhr University Bochum.
