Precision Physics, Fundamental Interactions and Structure of Matter (PRISMA++)

Since January 2026 the cluster of excellence PRISMA++ researches nature at its most fundamental level, the basic building blocks of matter. PRISMA++ scientists are searching for new particles and forces using a combination of innovative precision experiments conducted on the JGU campus and large-scale experiments at international locations.
Participating institutions are the Johannes Gutenberg University of Mainz (JGU), the Helmholtz Institute Mainz, the Helmholtz Center Berlin, and Fermilab (FNAL) in the US. The participating institutes of the JGU are the Institutes for Physics and nuclear physics and the Department of chemistry.

(Planned) Support Activities for Postdocs

Detector Laboratory Postdoc Fellowships | Mainz Institute of Theoretical Physics (MITP) Postdoc Fellowships | Annual Travel Funds for Scientific Conferences and Meetings | Workshops & Peer Group Support | Individual Mentoring and Coaching | Networking Events (Monthly Get-Togethers, Intercultural Lunches, and Hiking Trips)
