Lower Saxony Postdoc Network - LSPN

The Lower Saxony Postdoc Network (LSPN) is a collaborative initiative that brings together postdoctoral researchers from universities and research institutions in Lower Saxony. Founded to foster communication, support, and advocacy for postdoctoral scholars, LSPN serves as a central platform for exchanging ideas, addressing common challenges, and developing joint opportunities across disciplines and institutions. 

 

The goals of the LSPN are: 

  • Community Building and Networking: Connecting postdoctoral researchers across Lower Saxony to build a vibrant, interdisciplinary community; support the career development of postdocs through shared resources, mentoring, and events. 
  • Information Sharing: Leveraging better conditions for postdocs in Lower Saxony by highlighting best practice. Orientation & on-boarding for postdocs by providing them with essential information about career paths and opportunities, job postings, grant applications, institutional policies, etc. in universities and research institutions in Lower Saxony.
  • Advocacy: Advocating for the needs and interests of postdocs in institutional and political decision-making processes. 
  • Representation: Promoting the visibility of postdoctoral research and researchers at the regional, national, and international levels. 
  • Inclusion: to promote diversity and equity and ensure all postdocs have access to information for their career progress and wellbeing, regardless of background, gender, or nationality. 
  • Mental Health and Well-being: Organizing events or sharing resources that support mental health, work-life balance, and stress management.

LSPN Board Members

 

Dhanya Ramachandran

Dhanya Ramachandran is a researcher in the Gynecology Research Unit at Hannover Medical School, investigating genomic risk factors for gynecological cancers through genome-wide association studies and functional follow-up. 

Maria Zahid

Maria Zahid is a researcher in protein biochemistry and protein design at Leibniz University Hannover. Her research work focuses on understanding and engineering proteins to bridge the gap between molecular design and real-life applications. Beyond the lab, she is deeply committed to improving academic culture and fostering collaborative research environments.   

Edwin Schenkel

Edwin Schenkel is a postdoctoral researcher at the Department of Clinical Psychology and Experimental Psychopathology and a licensed Psychological Psychotherapist (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) at the Therapie—and Beratungszentrum (TBZ) of the Georg-Elias-Müller-Institute of Psychology, University of Göttingen. In his work, he bridges experimental research in emotional psychopathology and its application in clinical practice.

Irsa Ejaz

 

Irsa Ejaz is a plant scientist and works as a postdoctoral scientist at the University of Göttingen, Germany. Her research experience specializes in plant stress detection and management using hyperspectral and chlorophyll fluorescence imaging techniques. 

Barbara Harm-Altstädter

Dr.-Ing. Barbara Harm-Altstädter is a Post-Doc with graduate studies in meteorologies, working at the Institute of Flight Guidance of the Technische Universität Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig) since 2013. Her main research area contributes to a better understanding of atmospheric aerosols, which are measured in demanding fields (like polar areas, downwind of airports or close to other sources), derived from applications with different types of airborne systems.   

Claire Grauer

Claire is a postdoctoral researcher in the Sustainability Education and Research Group at Leuphana University. Her teaching and research focuses on sustainability education in teacher training and curriculum development, with a particular interest in decolonial approaches to teaching and learning, time politics, and needs-oriented approaches. 

Sarah-Indriyati Hardjowirogo

Sarah-Indriyati Hardjowirogo is a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer at the University of Oldenburg, where she works at the intersection of Sound Studies, media culture, and digital music production. Her research explores sonic diversity, sound technologies, and the cultural and epistemological dimensions of listening. She is actively involved in interdisciplinary research networks and postdoctoral representation.
