Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science

The Cluster of Excellence “Machine Learning: New Perspectives for Science” was launched in 2019 and is currently in its second funding period. The Cluster brings together leading researchers who develop computer algorithms in machine learning to advance scientific discovery across a wide range of disciplines, from exploring the brain’s fundamental building blocks to deepening our understanding of gravitational waves.
The Cluster comprises scientists from computer science, neuroscience, physics, geoscience, biology, medicine, linguistics, cultural anthropology, economics, law, philosophy, and others.
The Cluster is part of a vibrant scientific community in Tübingen. Its researchers come from the University of Tübingen, the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, the Max Planck Institute for Biological Cybernetics, the ELLIS Institute Tübingen, and the Tübingen AI Center. The Cluster also maintains a close partnership with the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS).
