GreenRobust is a Cluster of Excellence that launched on 1 January 2026, bringing together researchers from the Universities of Tübingen, Heidelberg, and Hohenheim. As climate change, biodiversity loss, and human activity increasingly challenge natural and agricultural systems, understanding what makes plants resilient is essential for protecting ecosystems and securing future food production. GreenRobust investigates the principles that enable plants to maintain function under climatic and biological stress, examining plant responses from molecules to whole populations and across a wide range of species. By combining expertise in plant biology, ecology, and data science, GreenRobust uses large, integrated datasets and advanced computational approaches, including artificial intelligence, to uncover the key mechanisms that allow plants to withstand change. Through the translation of fundamental discoveries into practical insights, GreenRobust contributes to sustainable ecosystem management and resilient agriculture.
