At our recent lunch talk of the series Career Perspectives: Beyond the Postdoc we invited Dr. Anh Vu Doan, Senior Project Lead at Infineon. He talked about his own career transition from being a postdoc in different research institutions in Belgium, Japan and Germany towards industry. After trying to find a professor position he decided to use his skills and knowledge and transition to industry. Here he found tasks and responsibilities, that are similar to what he wanted to do as a professor in academia. He discussed similarities and differences in the hiring process in academia and industry, which positions are suitable as starting points when transition to industry after a postdoc and which skills and comeptences are especially sought after.
