Are you wondering how salaries for scientists in Germany are structured? In the first session of our new online lunch talk series Understanding the System, we will take a closer look at the collective agreements TV-L and TVöD that govern pay in the public sector.
Whether you are working at a university, a university of applied sciences, or a non-university research institution, this talk will help you understand how the system works: what the different pay bands and levels mean, how professional experience and qualifications are taken into account, and what to consider when it comes to negotiation. We will also share tips on how to talk about salary with HR or your supervisor and point out where to find support if needed. The perspective of international researchers will be a special focus.
The event is organized in cooperation with the German Association of University Professors and Lecturers (DHV) and will be led by Hanna Lemp, who is a scientist and lawyer at the DHV. There will be time for questions, and we would be happy if you could already share some of yours with us during registration.
