The Cluster of Excellence NeuroCure is a collaborative, interdisciplinary, and translational research network in the neurosciences that aims to better understand disease mechanisms and develop new therapies for neurological and psychiatric disorders.
NeuroCure has been funded since 2007 by the German federal and state governments (Excellence Initiative), receiving further funding within the Excellence Strategy since 2019. We are embedded in Berlin’s diverse and vibrant neuroscience community. Participating institutions are the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Freie Universität Berlin (FU), Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (HU), the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE), the Leibniz Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP), the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine (MDC), and the Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens Berlin (MPUSP).
By promoting close cooperation between basic science and clinical research, the Cluster aims to more rapidly transfer findings from basic research to clinical application, bringing together basic and clinical researchers whose work spans cellular and molecular neuroscience to systems and computational approaches.
Fostering local networks of scientists and their research activities lies at the heart of the Cluster’s efforts; NeuroCure has established many new research groups and several technological platforms, and it is committed to promoting early career researchers through tailored support, programs, networking, and events for all career stages.
